TRADITIONS CONTINUED IN MODERNIZED FORM

The lignite briquettes tradition has been going in Lusatia for almost 150 years. Where at one time there were more than 100 briquette factories, Vattenfall now continues the tradition. The Schwarze Pumpe briquette plant is now the only one in East Germany. This is where around 5% of the lignite recovered from the Lusatian lignite mining area is turned into briquettes and industrial fuels.

The overall processing complex is the most advanced of its kind in Europe. It has the highest standards in industrial safety and environmental protection and produces the highest quality fuels. Processing, drying and shaping the brown coal increases its calorific value and improves the performance characteristics.

Lusatian REKORD briquettes are manufactured without adding binders. They are naturally low in sulfur and ash and have excellent heating characteristics. They are easy to ignite, burn with optimum efficiency and glow for a long time. Their high resistance to deformation and low abrasion makes them easy and straightforward to use.
